CapTech recently implemented a content management system and intranet portal for East Coast Fire Protection (ECFP). The new system helps one of the country's largest fire and life safety companies more efficiently serve an expanding customer base.

ECFP designs, fabricates, installs, inspects and services fire protection systems including fire sprinklers, fire alarms, and special hazards. The firm serves customers from 15 offices in seven states, making consistent communication between locations critical and challenging. Corporate information such as employee training materials, new business documents, and financial reports must be distributed to all offices and employees to keep business moving and meet customer needs.

"Our previous IT application was nearing its life cycle and scalability potential, which caused some internal communications issues and hindered our ability to expand the business," said Jeff Cannon, chief information officer, ECFP. "CapTech researched all aspects of our business and exceeded our expectations while building a central means of collaboration, document management and information distribution."

CapTech's solution for ECFP revolved around integrating Microsoft® Office SharePointTM Server 2007 Enterprise into the firm's current information architecture. SharePointTM gives ECFP an intranet portal solution that provides communication, application versioning, and document management for employees.

Additionally, executive dashboards provided through SharePoint and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services streamline and automate report generation and delivery to critical personnel. This actionable information and other critical documents are a breeze to find through CapTech's implementation of SharePoint search.

"The SharePoint based solution has greatly enhanced ECFP's ability to meet demanding growth challenges and deliver consistent value to our employees," said Cannon. "The collaboration and reporting tools have greatly enhanced employee productivity."
