CapTech recently used multiple Microsoft solutions to help a trio of clients maximize their technology systems. The Microsoft solutions were implemented to address a range of IT challenges including data warehousing, intranet portal development and systems integration.

"Our clients rely on us to deliver customized IT solutions that address their business needs and we in turn depend on our relationship with Microsoft to meet high client expectations," said Sandy Williamson, chief executive officer, CapTech. "We continue to have great success with Microsoft solutions because of their ease of use, affordability and exceptional performance."

CapTech's Microsoft Gold Certified Partner team used Microsoft Tablet PC, Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft® Office SharePointTM Server 2007 Enterprise to complete projects for a national retailer, a growing fire protection company and government benefits agency. Innovative Hand-Held Application

An innovative hand-held application using a Microsoft Tablet PC helps sales associates at a national retail chain engage customers and guide them through the sales process without ever leaving them to answer technical questions, check inventory or verify product pricing. CapTech integrated the Microsoft handheld solution with numerous in-store and corporate systems using a staging server. The server accesses multiple systems including a proprietary point of sale system, internal merchandising systems, e-commerce servers, proprietary shelf tag production systems and an off the shelf tag production system via ActiveX controls.

Improving Enterprise Communication

CapTech implemented a content management system and intranet portal for East Coast Fire Protection (ECFP). The new system helps the national life safety company more efficiently serve an expanding customer base.

ECFP designs, fabricates, installs, inspects and services fire protection systems, including fire sprinklers, fire alarms, and special hazards. The firm serves customers from 13 offices in seven states, making consistent communication between locations critical and challenging.

CapTech's solution for ECFP involved integrating Microsoft® Office SharePointTM Server 2007 Enterprise into the firm's current information architecture. SharePointTM gives ECFP an intranet portal solution that provides communication, application versioning, and document management for employees.

Managing Critical Data Assets

Established in February 1947, the Armed Forces Benefits Association (AFBA) serves the U.S. military community with high quality, low cost financial services and products. Earlier this year AFBA approached CapTech for help implementing an enterprise metrics data mart to better understand how it business was performing and to guide strategic decisions. CapTech designed, built and deployed a solution with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and Microsoft Office to help AFBA make key data and analysis more accessible to management.

The new system replaces paper-based reports with a robust and flexible web-based framework that provides a new level of data accessibility.

"Client engagements such as the Circuit City project help to demonstrate CapTech's experience with delivering business solutions based on the Microsoft platform," said Jerry Breslin, account executive, Microsoft Mid-Atlantic States. "Microsoft is proud of the relationship it's forged with CapTech and with many of CapTech's clients in Richmond and throughout the local market."
