CapTech Helps Client Win Prestigious Nielsen Award

CapTech, a national IT consulting firm headquartered in Richmond, is pleased to announce that its client, Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI), was named a winner for the World’s 10 Best Intranets of 2010 by the Nielsen Norman Group last week.  CapTech created an Enterprise Portal for the HHMI site that provided a single interface to information and services that are available to both HHMI employees and scientists.  The site also allows HHMI employees and scientists to create ad-hoc team rooms to support collaboration among active projects.

"Our corporate portal, content management, and social networking solutions rely heavily on open source solutions,” says Leslie Forte, Director Web Applications at Howard Hughes Medical Institute.  “CapTech played a critical role in integrating these technologies into our organization, extending the functionality of the open source platforms to meet our unique requirements, implementing the visual design, and mentoring our resources to be able to contribute to the development and support of the solution.”  The Nielsen Norman award can be found at http://www.nngroup.com/reports/intranet/design/.
