Customer Portal Data Integration

Business Case:

A Fortune 50 Consumer Packaged Goods client had been providing a portal solution to their nationwide retail customer base offering business critical information such as promotional offers and retail trade announcements. The portal only supported a single product category which was no longer sufficient to due to recent acquisitions and product innovations. In order to continue providing consistent value to retailers, the client needed to re-engineer the portal to support a growing multi-category business.

Solution:

CapTech successfully delivered a replacement Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) engine solution for this business critical portal application. The legacy DataStage ETL engine was hampered by hard-coded business logic and sourced multiple disparate systems. CapTech architected a new, configurable, rules engine to identify eligibility for promotions and for targeted trade announcements based on the specific characteristics of each retail customer’s contract. Our consultants extracted and thoroughly documented the complex legacy logic. The new engine was built using the Teradata ETL utilities leveraging the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) as the single source of the data and supports all product categories offered to retailers. CapTech’s modular and re-usable solution fully satisfied the key objectives to be both extendable and easy to maintain.
