Requirements and Integration Planning

Business Case:

A global financial services client needed to migrate their Installment Loan account portfolio from an aging legacy system with significant in-house modifications to a modern, industry leading platform.  This effort involved replacing the core processing system of record, adding and modifying the interfaces to over 90 supporting systems, creating a new front-end for customer service representatives and performing an organizational realignment to support modified business operations.  The client did not have business processes or requirements captured to direct or manage the program.

Solution:

CapTech provided a team of consultants with financial services backgrounds to perform business process re-engineering, business requirements definition and system requirements documentation.

Partnered with the client, CapTech delivered the following services to manage and maintain the scope of the program:

  • Defined and managed a Requirements Management Plan that controlled the overall requirements activities.
  • Created and maintained a set of Current and Future State business processes describing how the business and technical operations would be changed based on the new platform.
  • Developed and maintained a set of Business Requirements defining the scope of the program.
  • Gathered and documented detailed System Requirements in Use Case format.
  • Performed requirements traceability and ongoing maintenance in Requisite Pro.
  • Provided executive level management reports describing the status of requirements for the program.
Tools:
  • Microsoft Word
  • Rational Requisite Pro
  • Microsoft Visio
Results:

An exhaustive set of business requirements, process documentation and system requirements defined precisely the scope of the program and provided specific direction to designer and developer teams for implementation.
