CapTech Sponsors 2nd Annual Mooresville Area Cyclists Poker Ride

CapTech

CapTech Charlotte is a proud sponsor of the 2nd Annual Mooresville Area Cyclists (MAC) Poker Ride taking place at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 30th, at Ingersoll Rand campus in Davidson, NC. Proceeds of the event will go to the Ada Jenkins Learn Works Program, which offers programs and services to those in need (such as crisis assistance, medical/dental, youth education, and economic independence).

The ride combines the excitement of playing poker, the fun of biking, and the wonderful feeling of giving to charity. Although it may sound like the event requires a lot of skilled balancing, it's actually quite easy! Each rider receives a scorecard and draws a card from a deck before the ride starts. The card is marked on the rider's scorecard by a ride volunteer. The other four cards are drawn and marked at stops along the way. If the rider chooses to do the full Metric Century (62 miles), he or she will pull the last card at the finish line. Those riders who choose to do a Half Century ride (34 miles) will pull two cards at the last stop. At the end of the race, riders can exchange up to 3 cards for an additional $5 donation per card to Ada Jenkins. Prizes will be given to the winning hands and determined by standard 5-card draw poker hand rankings. If you wish to join in on the fun, register at https://www.bikereg.com/mac-poker-ride.

For those who don't wish to ride, there will be food and music during and after the race. CapTechers Ian Elliott, Les Morelock, and Tina Schurr will also be manning a CapTech booth, so be sure to stop by and say hi!
