Open Innovation is the most powerful business model of the century and it has the potential to create and foster the next new hubs of economic activity. The Money Event Challenges enable the creation and growth of vibrant ecosystems for Open Innovation in Commerce by bringing together local talent and technology at the intersection of Money and Mobility.

TME Challenges are designed to demonstrate the power of collaborative innovation in innovation hubs around the world, where APIs and SDKs from pioneering technology providers will be used to produce disruptive solutions in the world of money & commerce, with competitive participation from experienced professionals and students alike.

CapTechers Trey Robinson and Robbie Lowery from our Charlotte, NC Office participated in TME Hackathon Challenge in Charlotte, NC this past weekend. Trey and Robbie's team won, and were given the opportunity to present at The Money Event at Super Mobility Week in Las Vegas September 9th - 11th.

The problem statement for TME Charlotte Challenge was to 'create a mobile shopping experience using any or all of the following building blocks - beacons/NFC interactions, digital coupons and content, in-app or online payments.' Judges of the event included; Charlotte City Councilman, David Howard, CTO of Inmar, Greg Kerr, and Harris Teeter's Director of TA, Chase Cabanillas.

"We created an Android app in 24 hours using a coupon API, iBeacons, and NFC that added gamification to coupon usage in stores (as well as backend customer analytics). We were given a problem statement and a set of sponsored tools we had to use to complete the competition." said CapTecher, Trey Robinson. "I have been up for approximately 40 hours but it was worth it."

Registration for TME at Super Mobility Week is open, and being offered at a discounted rate through July 18th.
