At CapTech, our people are committed to making meaningful contributions to our communities. In late 2024, CapTech SI Senior Consultant Carlos Rubido partnered with the University of Florida’s Society of PC Building to provide mentorship as they addressed an urgent need—creating a responsive website to promote events, foster engagement, and extend their presence on campus.
Since its founding in 2021, the Society of PC Building has rapidly grown from a modest gathering of people focused on assembling and exploring PCs to a thriving community. To build a strong foundation for the club, the initial team, composed of seniors Angela Ung, Claudio Sciotto, and Wilbert Hernandez, embarked on this ambitious project.
Despite initial recruiting challenges, the team successfully expanded—adding sophomores Cole Morgan and Colin Mendoza, as well as additional UI/UX engineers. Once the core team had defined their roles, Angela as product owner, Claudio, Cole, and Wilbert as software engineers, and Colin managing the UI/UX engineers, they hit the ground running.
Within two months, the students successfully completed the website with Carlos’ guidance, all while balancing their academic responsibilities. This accomplishment was particularly noteworthy given that it was originally expected to take a year to complete.
Now live, the Society of PC Building website enriches the user experience for its members and officers by providing an engaging, accessible interface and the ability to make quick and effortless content updates, respectively.
The collaboration between Carlos and the University of Florida’s Society of PC Building illustrates the transformative power of our people and their commitment to company values. According to the team, Carlos’s involvement was invaluable to the creation of their website. His guidance deepened their understanding of industry practices, introduced them to different tools that led to quicker development, taught them to integrate AI effectively, and emphasized the value of learning beyond the classroom.
