Summary
A Global Vacation Ownership Brand needed to streamline its financial operations due to disparate loan servicing systems following major acquisitions. Faced with fragmented data and reporting inefficiencies, the client partnered with CapTech to build a unified loan-level data model and implement a predictive credit risk solution.
Challenge
After significant corporate acquisitions, the client was operating across three disparate timeshare companies, each with distinct servicing systems and data definitions. This environment created a fundamental data challenge. With no single, cohesive view of the entire loan portfolio, it required extensive manual effort to consolidate financial data and generate reports. Overcoming this complexity required a unified, reliable source of truth to enable accurate financial insights and support regulatory compliance.
Approach
CapTech collaborated with the client's finance, accounting, analytics, and IT teams to define, build, and validate a consolidated loan-level data model and a predictive credit risk model. The solution included migrating from on-premises SQL Server to Azure Databricks and delivering intuitive Power BI dashboards to replace legacy Cognos reports. This modernization would not only ensure compliance and transparency but also position this client for future growth with a robust, cloud-based data platform.
Results
By leveraging Azure Databricks and Power BI, the team delivered scalable analytics, automated reporting, and real-time insights, reducing manual effort by over 120 hours per month and accelerating decision-making. This comprehensive solution was achieved through several key deliverables:
- Consolidated Data Model: Collaborated with finance, accounting, analytics, and IT teams across three companies to define, build, and validate a loan-level data model and a predictive credit risk model known as Static Pool.
- Modernized Infrastructure: Migrated from on-premises SQL Server to Databricks on Azure, establishing the first business use case on the platform.
- Enhanced Reporting: Delivered intuitive Power BI dashboards to replace legacy Cognos reports, improving user experience and ensuring SOX compliance.
- Operational Efficiency: Reduced manual reporting effort by approximately 120 labor hours per month and accelerated query response times from minutes to seconds.
- Cross-Team Enablement: Improved transparency and resilience by aligning IT, finance, and analytics teams around a shared architecture and clear, maintainable codebase that multiple teams know from end to end, as opposed to each team knowing their single part of the process.
