CapTech to Sponsor 25th Annual Chip in for Education Golf Tournament
Richmond, VA | October 30, 2017
On October 30, CapTech Richmond will be sponsoring the 25th Annual Chip in for Education Golf Tournament to benefit the MathScience Innovation Center (MSiC.) Proceeds from this tournament will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a directed Challenge Grant, created in 2011 to fund the newly established MSiC Endowment at The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia. The endowment is intended to provide annual operating support for the center for years to come.
The MathScience Innovation Center (MSiC) provides educational experiences in science, technology, and mathematics to K-12 educators and students, with the goal of creating enthusiasm, inspiring innovation, and developing skills needed for STEM studies and careers.
The 2017 Chip in for Education Tournament will support MSiC's Environmental Sustainability and Stewardship initiative with the addition of a high tunnel (greenhouse) installed on the MSiC campus. This greenhouse will be a living laboratory, providing students and educators a space to learn about engineering design, indoor agriculture, alternative energy, nutrition, and sustainable development.
Darrell Norton, CapTech Principal, says of the event, "We are proud to sponsor a hole at the Math Science Innovation Center Chip in for Education Golf Tournament. One of CapTech's philanthropic goals is to support STEM education, and the MSiC does exactly that."
